Meet My Laptop

Hello everyone! It’s Friday which means another blissful weekend is upon us. You shall hear no complaints from me. It’s been a long week and I’ve been recovering from my wrist injury. It still gets pretty painful but I’m doing my best to be more ergonomically correct. Since I’ve been blogging, I can honestly say I get more questions about my laptop than I do my site. The most popular question I’ll receive (once or twice a day) is “How did you customize your desktop? Do you have a Dell?” I kid you not, people always ask me if I have a Dell. I don’t know if Dell is viewed upon being the only customizable laptop in terms of PC’s, but I always get asked if I have a Dell. I think people are even more shocked (or disgusted) that I have a Gateway. So I’ve taken this grand opportunity discuss my laptop with you.

Neela (which she is named) was delivered to me in October 2007. She’s a  Gateway MT4322 with a 13″ Ultrabright Widescreen.  I had no idea I was receiving a laptop until my mother came home with it. Of course, it was meant to be for “work purposes” but come on, I needed a computer of my own. Since my old Dell (have no idea what the model was. I got in December 04) had blissfully burned itself out more than four times in the first year of ownership, I had let it collect dust in my room. It didn’t help that at the time, Dell had recalled many laptops because they were exploding. My old Dell actually burned my leg!

Me browsing my site with its old Lily Allen theme back in 07. I know there’s a lot going on in the picture so bare with me! Horse? Krystal? Ketchup? WTF!

After my mother confiscating my laptop on many occasions (we won’t even get into that), by summer 2008, Neela safely resided in my room under the guardianship of Matrix ScreenLocker. I’m sure somebody would like me to write a biography on the life of my laptop, but I’ll skip to the current present.

Neela and her new friend!

Neela, my wireless Logitech mouse that David bought me, and the lap protector his mother and sister got me for my birthday.

Here’s a poor shot of my lock screen. It’s a wallpaper, again from DeviantART. My picture is a shot of David and I from 4th of July.

My current desktop & my Rainmeter sidebar. I’m using the Skulls theme that I found on DeviantART.

My ObjectDock!

I use StarDock ObjectDock for my dock. Icons from the left to the right are:
Computer, Documents, Pictures, Music,  Google Chrome, Gmail, Google Reader, Trash (which is full apparently), Photoshop CS3,Illustrator CS3, MS Word Office Ultimate 2007. The icons are from two different sets, both that I found from DeviantArt. I tried finding a name with no luck!

A sample of my Documents!

Here’s a nice shot of my second downloads folder, which is obviously un-organized. I was trying to get a nice shot of my folder icons which I also got from DA. I customize my icons with Stardock IconPackager. My Mission Matrimony folder is my wedding plans btw :P

There’s nothing much more exciting to say about my laptop. I guess I just wanted to share a little piece of my life with you. I’ll leave you with a list of software I use regularly. (I have Windows Vista running SP1 by the way).

Thanks for sharing! I’m such a dork and I love to see how other people have organized their computer and files and what kind of computers and setups they use! I just might have to do a post like this one day! Nice setup, by the way!

I haven’t customized my Vista. Don’t have that kind of time. I wish I did though. I love your set ups.

    I have a Vista Inspiron 1525. It’s almost a year.

It’s a glitch that I’ve been trying to figure out for a while. I’m working on it and I’ll be sure to shoot you an e-mail when it’s back up!
