I’m sure everyone has heard about the recently Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic abuse case that happened over the weekend. I heard about it some time yesterday afternoon on another forum but that information was quite brief. Everyone was unsure if Rihanna was the victim or not. By the end of the night, it was reported that indeed Rihanna was the victim and Chris Brown had surrendered himself to the LAPD.
I don’t know if people understand this or not but domestic violence is a serious problem. It’s unfortunate that this situation happened. No we do not know both sides of the story but I hope this wakes some people up. It is never okay to be abused by your significant other. I’ve heard some disturbing comments and things being said since this incident happened. Blind fans of Chris Brown saying things like, “So what? My boyfriend hits me too. That doesn’t mean I call the police on him.” After reading that comment, I felt completely sick to my stomach. How is it okay for anybody to hit anyone else in a relationship? If you “love” someone, how is it okay for you to hit them so hard that their entire face is bruised? If you care for someone, why would you ever want to hit them at all?
It’s making me sick that these young girls are supporting this violent behavior. I don’t care who started it or what was going on. No one should ever support any type of domestic abuse.
Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15-44.
Every 21 days, a woman is killed by domestic violence.
Up to 50 percent of all homeless women and children in this country are fleeing domestic violence.
- Source
When will this become real to people? Domestic violence, has been and will continue to be one of the worst things happening in this country right now. Another great excuse I’ve heard, “Chris was exposed to domestic violence in his home at a young age.” Okay? I will admit, every person is different. Everyone responds to their home life as a child differently. Again, this does not make it okay for anyone to harm anyone else in a dating or married relationship.
I do not think it was okay. I will not make excuses for him in this situation. I am glad he is incarcerated. I am glad his bond is $50,000. You can say it’s because he’s this or because he’s that. I don’t care. There are people who die in prison for being completely innocent. He’s committed a crime. Not only any type of crime, he committed an act of violence against someone he was in a relationship with. How can you find an excuse for that type of behavior? I don’t care if he was famous or not, domestic violence is never okay.
You can be a fan of someone and understand that their behavior is wrong. I have a problem with people being such blind fans of celebrities (who will never do anything for them by the way.) that they excuse all of their behavior. This fandom business is getting outrageous. At the end of the day, whatever what details come out, no matter who it is, domestic violence is wrong and should always be reported. If you or someone you know is an abusive relationship, please get help by contacting the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

I dont believe in domestic violence either. especially when grown teenager / adults. Its disgusting. No way would i let my bf hit me if he did I’d send him packing. Its just not acceptable.
But when it comes to smacking children i think its a different story. When i was a child my parents hit me with a belt cos i was naughty (yes i was 5yrs old and i told my dad to fuck off – i didntknow what it meant i learnt it off the kids down my street).
When i look back i think how much of a little brat / shit i was and i’m glad in a way if not i wouldn’t have turned out the way I am today. It didnt leave bruises or marks it left nothing. Fact was it was the only way for me to learn my lesson and i only got a spanking when I did something really wrong. Other than that it was a smack on the bottom which didnt hurt LOL

LOL! That’s a totally different thing. However when it comes to straight child abuse, I have to digress a bit.
You can discipline your kids without trying to kill them. A little tap on the tush only hurts your feelings.
I really don’t know what else to say except I completely agree. I am so upset at the comment the girl made about it happening to her? Uhm, you SHOULD be calling the police. If a man ever hit me, it’s OVER. One strike, you’re out AND I’m calling the cops. You better hope the cops get here before my family do, shoot. I will not play that.
“You can be a fan of someone and understand that their behavior is wrong.”
Exactly. I am still his fan but I find that behavior completely outrageous and unjustifiable. If he was a “regular” person, people wouldn’t defend his actions.
OMG! Rihanna is the victim?? I thought it was another girl.. :secret: I do love Chris.. but he hit her girlfriend????! whattha :ugh:
And to tink that they are both famous, what a shameless thing.. ~

Well personally i believe your approach to the situation is a bit harsh. I actually grew up in an abusive household {and seeing your mother dragged from the kitchen to her room … will have an effect on you} and i was also in an abusive relationship {not anymore … i got smarter} seeing my mother abused def. took a toll on my psyche. in my relationship i was always the initiator of the physical abuse. so im not making any excuses for chris brown … im not struck by “fandom” by him or rihanna {cuz they are def. not the best singers by far} … but the full details and scope of the story arent really released to pass judgment. i have a strong feeling that rihanna hit him first or escalated the situation. Despite how she appears on tv, she is know for being a hot head, temperamental, and extremely jealous. <— which are also forms of domestic abuse. the whole issue just sickens me. no matter how provoked chris brown was he shouldn’t have put his hands or her. i hate the stereotype that men are abusers…when women are just as abusive but society some how accepts and ignores this because the women are not as strong as the men… domestic abuse is not okay or acceptable..if you in an abusive relationship…get out or get help!!!
You obviously failed to read the post or somewhere along the line took the statements that I made out of context. No where have I subjected the idea that just men are beaters. My entire post was to make awareness of domestic abuse in the home, no matter if the abuser is male or female.
Again, as I wrote on my post, I do not have the full details of the story. No one will have the full details on the story except for the two people involved. I will say that no matter what happened, Chris Brown did not walk out with a broken jaw or a bruised face. He simply had a few bruise knuckles. No matter how tempermental anyone may be, no one has the right to strike someone, especially with a deadly weapon charge involved.
My apporach is not harsh, it’s real. There are millions of women, men, and children dealing with abusive people everyday. It is never OKAY under any circumstances to allow yourself to be in a physical dispute with someone, especially someone who you trust and are in a relationship/family situation with. I don’t care if you’re a man, woman, cat, dog, bird…whatever the situation may be domestic violence is not justifiable by any means. Celebrity or not.
Hey there Angel :)
How are you? Fine I hope.
I heard about the incident and I got to say I completely agree with you… It is a very serious problem and it should not be ignored at all.
I am a huge fan of Chris Brown, but I am not one of those blind-fans you referred to earlier… If he did indeed do it, then he should be punished for it.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts Angel :)
Peace!

I don’t agree with domestic violence when a man disrespects his woman and beats on her just because he feels like it..however if a woman chooses to hit her man then in all fairness he is allowed to hit her back because if the shoe was on the other foot..women would be shouting about cutting genitals off or throwing hot grits. If you want equality between males and females then there shouldn’t be any exceptions to the rules.
I’m a fan of Chris but not to the extent to where I think he can do no wrong. If did in fact hit her for no reason then he needs to be punished.

Okay
Don’t Beat Me up over this!!
But this is the rumor that I’ve heard
Rihanna told Chris that she has contracted herpes and that Chris may have it now too.
Now If someone told me they had herpes
and knew they had herpes before we had intercourse
I would be highliy pissed and may from rage and passion beat the living daylights out of her too.
lol
that is if this rumor is true or not lol.
Nigels last blog post..How I’m Feeling
LOL! She did look like she had herpes not gonna lie. That should be my next blog. If you have STDs, tell somebody!
I heard from a reliable source that it’s not certain that Rihanna was the victim. The story goes that Chris Brown canceled his performance and did not attend the grammys as scheduled. Rihanna had too did the same. Since it had became known that Chris Brown went to the police to turn him self in for domestic violence, allegedly everyone ASSUMED that Rihanna was the victim seeing that they both did not show up.
With all that being said, if Rihanna was the victim – then my hope for her to get well gets better. Still, it’s not even enough info nor time to jump judgment on Chris Brown, nor her. The fact is, he has the right to Due Process which will take place March 5th on his scheduled court date. Anyone who knows the constitution would know that Due Process will give him the chance to prove himself. Meaning we’d have the ‘story behind what’s happened’ because quite frankly, we’re just fans and we only know what the media tells us.
I do, praise you for your advocacy on how wrong Domestic Violence is. Though, your point of view seems a bit biased. You seemed to have only presented facts for women, when domestic violence virtually apples to both male and female. Like Derky said, we don’t know if it was Rihanna who jumped the gun. My thing is, in a series of self defense, a man can hit a girl and it’s okay. That too could have been the case, and Chris Brown was a bigger man and gave in because it was the right thing to do.
Thinking about, maybe that was done to save his rep. If it had prolonged and the victim who is unknown had went to the police first, that would have been bad for him, you see. There are a lot of factors that come into play for the entire situation.
Lastly, you replied to Derky that you don’t have the full facts and/or story. With that being said, I would have just left out the point of view on the story itself and just focused on Domestic violence because the story is based off interpretation and apparently false facts. Let’s not stir up any more controversy that has already come about shall we?
Jays last blog post..Whatever It Takes
Tmz confirmed it was Rihanna yesterday
Nigels last blog post..How I’m Feeling
As Nigel pointed out, it was confirmed that the victim was Rihanna. I believe that somewhere along the line, the focuse of my blog was left and ran around with the two celebrities involved. As I told Derky and I will repeat it, I don’t care who hit who first. Either way, that was their business. I do not know the facts, but that was not the focus of this blog either.
There are plenty of domestic violence cases where if the woman is the abuser she does become persecuted. Domestic violence does not only range between husband and wife, it goes down to children as well. If you are in a physical altercation with your child, depending on the cicrumstances it’s considered domestic violence. I know that women are just as abusive as men, I just wrote a blog about it! lol and you read it regarding my home life situation.
My problem was not that Chris Brown hit Rihanna as stated in the blog. My problem was that people were making statements, blindly support domestic violence due to the two celebrities involved. This blog was focused on the awareness of domestic violence in a whole and how it was not a joke, or something for people to “excuse as okay.” Especially the one girl who said my boyfriend hits me but I don’t call the police. That’s one of the most ignorant statements of the year.
But I do understand where you and Janie are coming from. Often the man is always looked at as the abusive one and instantly slammed. I didn’t slam him, I do however agree and will always agree with the punishment given to anyone involved in any domestic violence. Obviously the LAPD has some evidence and information that we do not have to stir such charges. We will never know! We’re just here to blog about it.
I hope this teaches all celebrities a good lesson. Just because you’re rolling in money and fame, doesn’t make you invincible to the law.
To those who said Rihanna might have provoked the attack, I disagree. No woman, child, or man for that matter, should be subject to that sort of abuse. There are better ways to deal with problems than punching someone. Honestly, how could someone provoke an attack like that??!
Thank you for writing this blog. It’s really eye opening for those who think that abuse, in all its forms, is okay. I find it disgraceful, disturbing and disgusting (so many D’s…) that people can try to justify what he did. I don’t care if his music is good, or if he’s good looking, or whatever other reasons fans seem to come up with. He’s committed a criminal offence and he needs to pay for it.
(Sorry about the rant… but I’m sick of backbone-less people who can’t even stick up for what’s right anymore.)
I just read your comment, I feel the same as you. The reason the younger kids say or do what they do is because they are not educated in the matter they belevie they know all. I am in the process in getting my master in social work so I can work in the field of domestic violance to stop the violance I have been a voleenteer for 6 years in Idaho. Best we can do is educate the public to this plaue.
