I’m writing this post to tell you that you can make a difference. Musician Wyclef Jean’s foundation, Yele, an organization to help poverty and to uplift his origin country of Haiti is now putting together a donation program to provide relief through this great disaster.

Okay ladies and gentlemen, things are returning back to the way they should be. There will be a few more posts this week, including a wedding post that everyone’s been excited about. I’m so glad to have some time to put into my site! As you can see, or if you can’t see, Static-Romance has a new theme. It’s a temporary theme for the time being because I’m working on something very sexy and mysterious. If you want a sneak peek of what’s going on, take a peek at my Twitter page.

This week, I luckily have the next two days at home, so I’m putting my time to good usage. I noticed there weren’t many Pink for October wallpapers out this month which I think is pretty lame. I did two last year, so I decided to put one up for this year. Breast Cancer Awareness is so important. I think it’s best for people to spread awareness as best as they can. I hope you enjoy your week and remember to stay aware!

I was eleven years-old eight years ago today. I was a month into my middle-school years of seventh grade. I don’t think I understood clearly as much as I should have. I understood hurt and pain. I shed tears a lot that week with classmates who were just as scared as I was. I was scared to fly and to enter large buildings. I was scared of things I heard on the news, but I never turned away for a second. I wanted clear answers to what happened, and to this day I still don’t think there’s been enough clarity. My heart ached watching this video. Please don’t forget what happened on this day. Please don’t forget the lives that were lost, changed, and touched. Things have never been the same since in a way. We can move on, but we can never forget.

I’m sure everyone has heard about the recently Chris Brown and Rihanna domestic abuse case that happened over the weekend. I heard about it some time yesterday afternoon on another forum but that information was quite brief. Everyone was unsure if Rihanna was the victim or not. By the end of the night, it was reported that indeed Rihanna was the victim and Chris Brown had surrendered himself to the LAPD.

I don’t know if people understand this or not but domestic violence is a serious problem. It’s unfortunate that this situation happened. No we do not know both sides of the story but I hope this wakes some people up. It is never okay to be abused by your significant other. I’ve heard some disturbing comments and things being said since this incident happened. Blind fans of Chris Brown saying things like, “So what? My boyfriend hits me too. That doesn’t mean I call the police on him.” After reading that comment, I felt completely sick to my stomach. How is it okay for anybody to hit anyone else in a relationship? If you “love” someone, how is it okay for you to hit them so hard that their entire face is bruised? If you care for someone, why would you ever want to hit them at all?

It’s making me sick that these young girls are supporting this violent behavior. I don’t care who started it or what was going on. No one should ever support any type of domestic abuse.

Domestic violence is the leading cause of injury to women between the ages of 15-44.
Every 21 days, a woman is killed by domestic violence.
Up to 50 percent of all homeless women and children in this country are fleeing domestic violence.
- Source

When will this become real to people? Domestic violence, has been and will continue to be one of the worst things happening in this country right now. Another great excuse I’ve heard, “Chris was exposed to domestic violence in his home at a young age.” Okay? I will admit, every person is different. Everyone responds to their home life as a child differently. Again, this does not make it okay for anyone to harm anyone else in a dating or married relationship.

I do not think it was okay. I will not make excuses for him in this situation. I am glad he is incarcerated. I am glad his bond is $50,000. You can say it’s because he’s this or because he’s that. I don’t care. There are people who die in prison for being completely innocent. He’s committed a crime. Not only any type of crime, he committed an act of violence against someone he was in a relationship with. How can you find an excuse for that type of behavior? I don’t care if he was famous or not, domestic violence is never okay.

You can be a fan of someone and understand that their behavior is wrong. I have a problem with people being such blind fans of celebrities (who will never do anything for them by the way.) that they excuse all of their behavior. This fandom business is getting outrageous. At the end of the day, whatever what details come out, no matter who it is, domestic violence is wrong and should always be reported. If you or someone you know is an abusive relationship, please get help by contacting the National Domestic Violence Hotline.

On December 9th a little girl I have never met, never seen, and have never known entered my life. For the past week, she’s been one of the main focuses of my time. An old-classmate of mines updated her Facebook status last week telling us she needed $35,000 for her 14-year old sister. I haven’t seen this classmate in years but to know that she had a sister who needed help, it peaked my interest. I learned a few minutes later that her sister’s name was Kaiya Castillo. Kaiya was born with cystic fibrosis. Kaiya needs a lung transplant because her lungs are failing and it’s hard for her to even breathe on her own.

The cost of health care in America in this terrible economy is nearly impossible for many to achieve on their own. Kaiya’s operation will cost $500,000. For her family to only be asking for $35,000 there’s a lot of that money coming out of their own pockets. Imagine the struggle on a family who is putting one child through college, the others through school, and one of their kids needs lungs to live. There is no price on life. $500,000 is a mere nothing for the life of a child.

Two years ago, in the early morning hours of November 3rd, my cousin passed away at the age of thirteen. She had a type of lymphoma which caused her health to steadily decline in less than a year. If you knew me, when I had Tragically-Kissed, you remember my heart being broken about it. My cousin’s parents could not afford her healthcare. They couldn’t afford to have their child airlifted to John Hopkins to live. By the time we got the help of the people at our church, she had been given a time period to live. She spent her thirteenth birthday in her SpongeBob pajamas (quite like Kaiya who’s favorite show is SpongeBob). After receiving a visit from Bishop Eddie L. Long of New Birth Missionary Baptist Church, who she had wanted to meet for entire stay at the hospital, she passed away the next day.

I can’t bring her back. I know she would want me to do this to help Kaiya. I know she would never want any child to have to live their lives in a hospital in and out. I know she enjoyed traveling and being happy and laughing, simple things as laughing. Kaiya can’t even laugh without losing her breath. She can’t enjoy the life of a normal fourteen year-old. When I was fourteen, I was playing volleyball and laughing at lunch with my friends. Kaiya can’t enjoy these simple pleasures. She does need some help and I’m only asking you to pass this along.

I’m not accustomed to designing for Blogger so my apologies for the site being some what lame. As time goes on, I’ll put more work into and make it better. Please just visit. If you have the time, add a badge to your site or a text-link or something. If you can, donate. You don’t know what you can do if you try.
