My Dream Career
27 Feb
Every year I seem to become interested in something new. Granted, I am only eighteen and probably have plenty of time decide what I want to do with my life. I’ll be nineteen in April, seeing most of my friends already jump-starting on their careers makes me think about what I really want to do for my career. I’ve had only one job in my life, working as a case manager and intake coordinator at a drug detox facility. At the age of eighteen, I was the youngest person working in the entire facility. It was quite the experience. After working there for an entire summer, I realized I didn’t want to pursue a career in the medical field. At first I was seriously interested in becoming a psychiatrist to help the people I was working with. However as time went on, I felt that I would not be dedicated and would lose joy in the career I was pursuing.
I stopped working there sometime in September of 2008. Shortly after, it conveniently closed for many reasons. So it was then I decided I never wanted to work anywhere I wouldn’t enjoy. I also decided that I wanted to fully devote myself to whatever my career choice would be instead of doing odd jobs here and there. After making the time to decide that, it was the choice of career that I needed to decide on. As the months have gone by, I’ve picked up many new interests. I’ve become very interested in interior design, studying about it in my free time. I worked on a few interior design projects. It was then I was completely indulged and realized I wanted to do some interior designing in my life.
So now I’m at the point where I have six major loves: art, graphic/web design, fashion design interior design, writing, and blogging. David and I discuss this daily and we both would like to start a design studio. I don’t know what type of career title I will have doing all of these things, but it’s what I have my heart set on. Maybe before I get to do that, I would also love to work in an art gallery. I want to meet local artists, learn things about art/photography, and be surrounded by beautiful things everyday. So I guess that would be my next job pursuit, to be hired at an art gallery. Of course the chances of that happening are slim to none. I’d be happy to just volunteer there. Perhaps I should start on a search of finding an intern program. Anyway, what is your dream career?

I’m 20 and I’ve wanted to do lots of things from real estate to nursing assistant. I still don’t know what I want to permanently and don’t think I ever will but I do agree with you on enjoying what you choose. But I know I get bored beyond easily lol. But a design studio would be awesome you are definitely talented enough. All I say is go with what you love the most if you have doubts don’t idk lol.
I think it’s great that you know what your dream career is. It seems that a lot of people either don’t know or lose touch with what they’d like to do.
My dream career is to be a teacher. At one point, I wanted to be a graphic designer but it’s something that’s enjoyable but not something I could see myself doing everyday. I’m simply a blogger.

Every year I seem to be interested in something new as well. I guess I wasn’t one of those kids that grew up knowing what they wanted to be. At first I wanted to be a psychiatrist, then a lawyer. I don’t think I can change my profession now considering I’m in my degree already pursuing Computer Science. My dream career though would have been something to do with fashion or interior designing too. I’ve always loved that, maybe landscaping as well. =)
Hm…like you, I have an interest in so many different things…unfortunately, I definitely need to choose something, because I have my 10 year High School Reunion this year…and I don’t feel that I’ve accomplished anything. But I don’t honestly see the point in choosing to do something that doesn’t make me happy or content. So I’m just being patient, until I figure out what God wants me to be doing with my life.
