I hate to get terribly off-topic but I started my first (well, third) “9-to-5″ corporate job yesterday and I’m excited to add (more) corporate pieces to my wardrobe. Blogger Interview: GT of Get Togetha

25 Jan

Happy Monday! I’m very pleased to announce that the beautiful GT of Get Togetha accepted my proposal for an interview. A beautiful and inspirational person herself, GT lets us all know a little about the woman behind the blog. She’s a crackberry addict (like myself) and really enjoys blogging! I admire her greatly for her desire to share her lifestyle inspiration with as many as she can. I can only see good things in the future for GT and Get Togetha. I’m definitely looking forward to her next books as well. I hope you guys enjoy the interview as much as I do. Also, shout-out to my lovely friend, Katrina, who really loves GT as well.

Q: What made you start Get Togetha Blog?
A: At first I just wanted to create a place where women could share their thoughts on life and living. Then it morphed into a decor voice which was sorely lacking by women of color. I love the idea of living your best life and doing you and I wanted to share that common thread with other women.

Q: As a lifestyle blogger, what is your biggest challenge when it comes to blogging?
A: My biggest challenging has been developing patience. Blogging is so instantaneous that it feels natural to want a following overnight. But with blogging it takes time to build an audience; especially when your blog isn’t based on drama/negativity. And not that I have anything against negativity; but I really want people who visit Get Togetha to feel inspired.

Q: Your eBook Blog Your Passion is informative and inspiring. I recommend it to every blogger and those who are thinking of starting their own blog. Do you have any plans to release more eBooks or possibly a print publication?
A: Why thank you! And why yes. I’m birthing the second and third branch of Get Togetha’s e-book series. Creating these lifestyle books have been a dream come true.

Q: Get Togetha often features modern, chic decor. What is your favorite thing about decorating?
A: Being able to truly say that inspired women to participate in my own happiness is my favorite part of decorating.

Q: What made you interested in the world of lifestyle blogging?
A: Writing, communicating and pretty things are truly my passion and I’m a huge proponent of being personally responsible for your life no matter what has been dished to you. I know that anything is possible because I didn’t exactly have the most June Cleaver childhood yet I’ve lived to tell a tale.

Q: What is your favorite item in your home?
A: A Kenneth Wingard Vase and a pair of African chairs that I bought from a Mali vendor on 125th Street.

Q: What is one thing you cannot live without?
A: My Blackberry and my laptop.

Q: If there is only one message you would like your blog to send to your readers, what would it be?
A: To never allow others to become the center of your Universe and to live your life to the fullest. Time waits for no one.
