On The Road Again
14 Jul
I have been indulging in productive days and the progress is showing! I was terribly sick Sunday night and yesterday. It was pretty nasty. I just hate being sick, and I happen to have an immune system of an 84 year-old. Wait, that’s an insult to the elderly. I have such an unstable immune system. I hope to improve my health in the latter half of this year. I just have so much to do with the wedding and holidays coming up. I cannot afford to spend this time sick.
I’m also looking into starting school for Spring semester of 2010. I was accepted to attend Spelman and FAMU, but of course I declined. My mother sent in the applications, against my advice. I have no plans on returning to Atlanta to finish school, which is where Spelman is located. I never had plans to attend an all-girl school, or had I had plans to really attend any HBCU. Not that HBCUs are bad institutions, but my heart was set on quite a few Ivy-league schools that my mother ruined my chances of attending. However, I will take my chances with UCF now that I am in the central Florida region. I delayed attending this fall because quite frankly, I did not want to take the financial strain. I am not a fan of debt, and I like to pay for things up front in cash. I do believe in scholarships! I do not want to post-pone my education any longer. I love being in school and having that extra challenge.
Speaking of challenges, I have completed the front page of Sevenality’s blog design. I realize it’s going to a breeze compared to the portfolio. I had never used jQuery plugins, nor designed a single page portfolio so the task was a bit difficult. Designing Wordpress themes is my niche, so it shouldn’t be any longer than this week to finish. I was going to implement some type of jQuery or AJAX into the blog design, and perhaps I’ll do that with the comments. Here’s a little teaser though:
It’s definitely something you should keep an eye for. It won’t be disappointing in the least. I have been waiting to have my own design and inspiration blog. I have ten articles ready to post, and David has a few himself. We’ll have plenty to deliver. After I re-design this site, I’ll be releasing a series of Wordpress themes, including the one I created for this site.
Speaking of site releases, David and one of his friends created a young adult Christian e-Magazine about two years ago. It really didn’t get off the ground easily because they both were working full time. Now David has dedicated most of his time to re-releasing it as a full web experience. Wired Thinking is searching for editors between the ages of 16-29. If you’re interested, just send them a quick e-mail to wiredthinking[at]gmail.com. You’ll be working on articles as well as working with social networking and other creative ideas. It’s really interesting if you’re into that sort of thing. We’ve already picked up a few applications as well as one new editor today.
We’re trying to provide young Christians with a place to go without constantly being judged. Also to show people that not all Christians are stuck up the butt with crosses coming out of their ears. There are a lot more liberal Christians than people think, and not everybody wants to shove their views down anyone’s throat. I guess I get tired of being attacked for attacking people when I haven’t attacked anyone. I think everyone has a right to believe whatever they want to believe, and I enjoy hearing other people’s beliefs.
I’m compiling a list of young adult bloggers to post for everyone who was searching some time this week. If you have a blog and you’re not a “teenybopper”, feel free to leave your link or any other links as well.

I really like this website. It’s adorable. :) I hope that the scholarship search treats you well! Hopefully the school will offer you a bit of money. That’s how I made my way through school. Grad school though, eek.
Anyways I hope that you get to go exactly where you want too, because nothing is better than a great education!

I hope you feel better soon. I have a poor immune system as well. Probably you should try taking some vitamins to boost it? Eating fruits can help too.
It’s great that you’re going to continue school. :-) Good luck with it.
I apply for scholarships and bursaries every year, but I never got any after the batch of money I got when I finished high school. :) Best way to offset first year of university, of sure. I wasn’t aware that parents can actually apply for students… I had to sign all of my university applications, and they asked only for prospective students to sign them, not parents.
I hope you feel better soon. :)
Michelle´s last blog ..Say my name, say my name
She really was not allowed to. She forged my signature. That’s another story for another day.
I’m not a fan of debt either. I’m not in school, but I were, I definitely wouldn’t want a huge debt hanging over my head. Good luck with the scholarship(s). :)
That new design looks really cool! I try to make awesome designs like that too, but I always end up making each one look very similar to the one before. :( Maybe I’ll get the hang of it one day. :)
Also, wiredthinking sounds like a great website. I’m definitely interested, I’m gonna shoot them an email! Thanks for providing it. :)

Aaah..i am in soo much debt right now…i went off to college right out of highschool. I mean i had a scholarship but no financial aide because my dad “makes to much” thats bs…&& the scholarship doesnt cover all my schooling…So im knee deep in loans and surviving off of ramen noodles  I’m glad your taking that approach && i cant wait until you compile that list…it’s hard trying to find good sites from people who are around our age…i would love to be added to your list when you do compile it though!!
Derky´s last blog ..You Gone Think I Invented Sex
Good luck with getting started with school! I think it’s really selfish of your mom to apply to schools without your permission…
I hope that you feel better soon. I get sick a lot too so I know how you feel!
