Here I am sharing with everyone that I took the day off to finally catch up with MTV’s Real World: Brooklyn. I’ve been a huge RW fan since I was about twelve or thirteen. Before then, I was a huge Road Rules fan. I really missed the Real World. I haven’t watched a season thoroughly since Key West. A lot of the other seasons seemed a bit too fake to me. Some of the people would have definitely stressed me out just by watching. When I saw the promo for RW:BK, it immediately struck me as a “good season.” Call it trash TV. I’ll just call it my new guilty pleasure.

Episode One: Brooklyn Bridging – The beginning on this episode was automatically interesting. Within the first ten minutes, we learn that a house member already has a secret. We also learn that there’s going to be eight roommates instead of the normal seven. I don’t have time to run through the entire episode so I’ll give a brief synopsis on the characters and how I view them.

J.D. – Is automatically one of my favorite people ever. His story of independence at a young age reminds me of my own living situation. He’s an overprotective type without being too pushy. He just seems blissfully geniuine. He has a laid-back type of spirit. Depsite the fact that he’s been through so much with his home and family life, it seems that J.D. knows when to draw the line. I’m quite cautious however because I’m usually wrong about the characters I first like on the show. The only character that I was never wrong about was Frankie (R.I.P.) from the San Diego season.

Sarah – She’s definitely hyper. She is probably my second favorite person in the house. She seems to be very artistic and open about her relationships. I would think she would be a lot more annoying than she is. However she’s come off as an okay person so far. She seems definitely like the big-sister type. Her attitude is always pleasant and it seems the other roommates feel she can handle conflict the best.

Chet – Started out as an okay guy in the beginning. As the show continued on his ignorance became very present. I really don’t like him. I don’t like people like him. Just because you come from a sheltered way of living doesn’t mean you have to be so ignorant. I feel like I’m really going to have to force myself to like him. I think as the show progresses he will learn that his judmental ways are only from his close-minded lifestyle.

Katelynn – She seems to be a complete sweetheart. She’s very shy. Despite the way Isis from ANTM was viewed for being transgendered, Katelynn is the complete polar opposite to me. She’s a lot more outgoing and very sure about herself. I’m sure there will be plenty of attacks against the LGBT community in this show by Chet and Ryan. They both seem to be the official dumbasses of the show.

Ryan – One minute I like him, the next I hate him, the next I like him. This guy definitely has his good and bad sides. The fact that he survived and is a living veteran after fighting for our country really hasn’t seemed to make much of an impact on his choice of actions. He just comes and goes for me. I think he has the potential to offically be the house asshole though.

Baya – She’s not really interesting. It’s like she’s trying so hard to be important she comes off as very unimportant. Kinda bland. Kinda generic. I’m trying to find enough things to say about her but she reminds me of another cast member from another season. I would like to say it was Cameron from San Diego but I could be completely wrong. The only thing I seem to know about her is that she likes dancing. I guess we’ll see how that goes.

Scott – Also very unimportant character it seems. He’s just taking his shirt off every five seconds. I’ve seen better bodies and he’s honestly not that cute. I guess he’s supposed to be the “eye candy” but he’s coming off as completely brainless. I don’t know what else to say about Scott. He’s just there. I’m sure he has some deep-rooted issue that he needs to deal with. More than likely he’ll hook up with Devyn or something along that nature. The guy seems to like himself a little too much though.

Devyn – The generic OMG you must have a black person on the show so let’s pick Devyn. Devyn is conceited, arrogant, and attention needy. The first few minutes of seeing her breasts all in my face definitely was enough for me. She’ll whip out her girls for anybody to see. However I do like her confidence, even if it’s crossing the arrogance border. I guess Devyn’s purpose is to show us how former beauty queens are. Also to flash us and tell us how much she wants to bone Scott. Joy…

The preview for the rest of the season definitely took a toll on me and my thoughts. I guess I’ll have to continue watching to find out.
